Finished up my last trips and they were awsome.  Coho and more coho, along with big kings filled up the cooler the last two days.  The fishing is great get out there, caught quit a few fish on spoons so mix it up alittle.

Fishing has been good this weekend, the fish have moved up into the 50-70 ft zone.  Today they mainly wanted plugs in an assortment of colors, slide divers were probably the best.  Had all kings and coho today with some pretty silver fish.  Last night all they wanted was meat today only plugs, you have to give what they want.  West bay has been really good along with the point only fishing a few more trips then its off to the Sanctuary Ranch till December.

Fishing remains great in Frankfort been catching lots of fish.  There is alot of fish around the harbor but they are pretty dark.  The best fishing seems to be in deeper water from 150-250 on riggers and 400-500 on divers.  Today they had moved up a little bit but still deep.  Plugs and meat is all I have been running and it's working very well.  They are calling for 30 mph south winds the next couple days so we will have to wait and see what happens.  Still looks like some good fishing remains.

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

The fishing continues to be good in any direction.  Any color splatter back plugs continue to rule along with meat rigs.  Looks like some wind for the next couple days but we should be able to fish with the right crew.  The bay is starting to fill up with kings and they should push up the river very soon.

The last couple days the fishing has been really good.  The big kings were in close early and late biting mostly plugs and meat.  I have been fishing deeper water late morning and early evening with lots of smaller steelhead and coho biting shallow on small orange and green spoons.  This time of year the fishing is different each day with the wind constantly changing direction.

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

The fishing has been pretty good the last few days.  The mornings have been better than the afternoons.  The bigger fish are near shore and the coho and steelhead are out deep 200-600 fow.  The top 50 feet has produced all the fish with water surface being in the mid 50's.  Spoons have been the ticket out deep and plugs and meatrigs for kings in closer.  Suppose to get a another big wind on friday so things will probably change again.

Thursday, August 9, 2012

Fishing has been slower the last couple days with the north winds.  Tomorrow it's suppose to blow 30 mph out of the north.  This will flip the lake and make fishing tougher for a few days.  I would expect alot of fish to move into the harbor.  Lets just say it's going to be interesting the next couple days once things stabilize the fishing should be good, just not sure where that will be.  We will have to look around and find them.

Friday, August 3, 2012

Well it looks like some strong winds the next couple days.  Fishing has stayed consistent it has slowed compared to June and July but this is how August usually is.  Been fishing north of point betsie lately and finding active fish.  Divers out 180-300 have been the best with 300-450 coppers and anything else in the 90-130 ft range.  Plugs have been good early and late with green and blue splatter backs being the best.  A moonshine half loaf has been on fire I have been running 3 or 4 of them and the salmon are really liking them.  The number of fish in the boat has really been different if they stay on you will catch 20 if they are light biting or coming off then 10 seems to be a fair number.  They are really deep right now but that should all change by Monday.

Fishing continues to be good in Frankfort, more 16-19 pounders showing up.  Moonshine spoons and meatrigs dominate high in the water column.  Not many dates available don't wait get out there.  Had a coho this morning looks like things continue to be ahead of schedule.

Even with all the wind from every direction the fishing still remains good.  I fished south for a few days then off to the north when the wind died down and it was good.  Yesterday they seamed to like plugs had 8 bites on them but of course the meat rigs won again.  I fished out to 650 fow and we caught fish all the way out.  Just get away from the traffic and the fish will bite, the current has been pretty strong so pay attention to your down speed it changes rapidly.  Also I have had more luck with regular sized spoons than mags lately.

The fishing continues to be great here in Frankfort.  Today is our first big south blow followed by three days of NE winds.  I will have to wait and see what happens but it looks like the fishing will slow down the next few days with all the wind.  Might have to do a little more searching but should still be able to find them.  I have been running up to 5 mixed vegetables in all sizes and brands on copper and leadcore as it has been the food of choice lately.  Will be fishing Tuesday-Friday and should have a good report.

Fantastic fishing
My last 8 trips have been great fishing.  We are mainly catching kings but I have caught a couple trout and steelhead each trip.  It really didn't seem to matter where you went I tried south and straight out and off the point and I caught fish every where.  Get away from the boats seems to be the ticket any where from 90 fow out to 400 I found fish.  Mixed veggie spoons worked very well for spoons or a bruha.  Meatrigs just out perform everything hands down, if you are not fishing Rapture teaser flies you are missing out on a cooler full of salmon.  If you are waiting until August to book a charter don't, the fishing is the best now and who knows what August might bring.

The fishing last couple days has been pretty good.  The lake has been flat calm with lots of boat traffic. We have been getting 90% kings with a few trout mixed in.  The fish were mainly biting boards with ss on coppers and really biting meatrigs on divers.  The best area has been straight out front and a little to the north.  I have been fishing shallow water mostly but I did venture out to 160 fow last night out front and still caught fish.

The fishing remains good in Frankfort with great catches of salmon and trout along with some bonus steelhead.  Fished last night for couple hours and was 9-14 with 1 trout and 8 kings.  The fish were from 150-300 coppers and 70-100 on the riggers.  My best was the divers out 170-250 with meat rigs, the rapture rigs continue to be the most consistent producers.  Starting this weekend I fish two trips everyday for 8 days so I will hopefully have some good reports.  I still have one open spot for July 2 in the morning so give me a call.

June 22
Well after all the wind this week I was a little worried to see what might happen.  As expected the water warmed up and was 57 down 100 feet.  I really didn't mark many fish, we did pick up 10 nice fish last night but we had to work hard for them.  They were caught from 150 coppers to 130 feet on the downriggers.  Hopefully things stabilize for the weekend and things pick back up again.

The fishing continues to be good over the weekend.  There were lots of salmon and trout from out front and to the north.  The trout were biting on the bottom in 95 fow and the salmon were really biting meat rigs on the divers.  Must of had 20 bites on divers just on saturday morning.  I run Rapture teaser rigs behind spin doctors in white or blue.  The spoon bite was a little slower but the RV spoons have been the most consistent producer.  Looks like a lot of wind the next couple of days so we will see what happens.

The fishing is stable here in Frankfort, some days are better than others.  This is usually the pattern here as storms and different wind direction change the conditions daily.  Tuesday was a tough bite but wednesday  was good with many salmon in the 12-17 # range.  The fish are coming deep straight out and to the north in 120-200 fow.  I have had my best luck on divers 200-300 feet with meat rigs.  If the wind doesn't blow to hard this weekend it should be pretty good.

5-27
The fishing right now is pretty good, from straight out to the north.  There are plenty of salmon around in the 3-12 lb range along with a few bigger ones.  The lake trout fishing continues to be good, so there is a nice mix of fish.  With the lake being around 55 degrees on the surface the fish are biting down to 120 ft.

May 14

Well this time of year you never know what tomorrow will bring.  The salmon catches were between 1-3 a trip for anyone heading out.  Then a friend goes out same spot and bang, they showed up.  He caught 25-30 salmon two days in a row, straight out front in 100-250 fow.  They are still here as of now, also the trout seem to be hanging around.  I would say Frankfort fishing is good right now, the water is cold but boat traffic is zero.  We will see what weather does, but you never know what tomorrow will bring.

May

Well it seems that the salmon that are off of Manistee just don't want to move.  The fishing continues to be good just 25 miles south.  However there have been a few kings caught off Frankfort along with a few browns on the right day.  The best catches have been for lake trout, with limits of nice fish coming in just to the north.  With reports from the south the fishing is fantastic, should be yet another great season.

April 9

With the weather being warm and cold so has the fishing.  There have been a few salmon caught around the harbor with browns and lake trout making up the majority of the catch.  They are being caught in the  top 10 fow with small spoons and body baits.  It seems you have to put your time in and be in the right spot at the right time.  There seems to be some kings down in Manistee so we should see some here soon.  Captain Dave

March 25

New for this year is a Frankfort fishing report.  I will be updating this new fishing report all summer long with where and what's hot.  With the warm weather and early spring the fishing appears to be ahead of schedule.  There have been many small boats on the water and the fishing has been hit or miss.  The salmon seem to be heading up the lake with reports from Ludington.  Big boats should be in the water soon.  Fish Hunter Charters
