Season 2013 over

Well I pulled my boat today cause its off to my other job. The last few days the fishing was good with coho and big kings around. There still is plenty of fish out there I would expect the fishing to be good for the next couple weeks. Today the wind is blowing from the north and it feels like fall, the fish should be around the harbor. Thank you to all my customers for a great season, if you have dates in mind for next year call me as almost all of my August weekends are already booked. Well the last week we have fished quit a bit and each day is alittle different. Most of the catches are consisting of mainly coho with some kings and steelhead mixed in. We have fished way north and out front in deep water. With the changing winds we have had to move around. Should be a nice holiday weekend and I expect the fishing should stay the same with coho being the main catch. Fish Hunter

The past few trips have been some of the best fishing of the summer. Lots of coho and some big kings to mix in. But, now tomorrow we are suppose to have a big SW wind blow. This will probably change things again because its followed by a N wind. This is how it's been all season dealing with constant changes. Fish Hunter

August 17

Fishing continues to be pretty good. We are fishing off shore and catching a mix bag of all species. Things are changing on a daily basis and the fish move here and there.

August 10

The fishing can be described as inconsistent. One day the fish are here then there gone. We are constantly having to search and fish different spots. The boat traffic is horrible so I have been fishing in different spots by myself, most of the time. The fish have a been a mixed bag kings, coho, trout and steelhead. Some days one species dominates then the next another does. Mostly spoons and meatrigs are doing all the damage. Fish Hunter.

August 8

Fishing is pretty good right now. We are catching kings, coho and lake trout. Not alot of fish but a nice mixed bag. The salmon seem to be giants or small. Had one this morning almost 30 pounds. Mag spoons and meat rigs are dominating right now. The fish are 60-90 feet down. The nice thing is you can go anywhere and catch pretty much the same amount of fish, so no need to fish the crowds. Hopefully the coho come in full force soon and add alittle to the catches. Fish Hunter

August 1

It's August and we are smashing the kings. Well not really but thats what is suppose to be happening this time of year. Had a good box of fish last night and this morning of trout and salmon. I really think more salmon show up each day, with some real beast around. The morning has been better for salmon hands down. They are already starting to trickle into the river and thats not a good sign, but it happens. Fish Hunter

July 26

Well the only thing that happened after the big north wind was the lake trout scattered. The salmon didn't really show up but we had to fish them harder. Caught some nice the last few days, probably 7 fish between 20-26 Lbs. There wasn't alot of them around but 4-9 a trip seem to be the norm. More winds today from the south then it's back to the north again. Have to wait to see what happens.

July 23

Well no fishing today with strong north winds. The fishing the last few days has been slower. Did have some salmon show there faces, and it was nice to see some around. The trout seem to have slowed down a bit, I did fish in deeper water once and found a mix bag of fish there. It seems this summer has been up and down, wow we have been spoiled the last couple years. I really don't know what is going to happen with the salmon fishing with only a few bites per trip on them. Today the wind is blowing 20-30 out of the north, and that sure won't improve anything. I see the fishing being really tough for the next couple days, it can only get better. I will be fishing everyday starting tomorrow till labor day weekend, so I will being trying new spots if we can't locate fish. There out there somewhere...Fish Hunter Charters

July 17

Fishing remains the same a few salmon around and loads of trout. We are going to get some strong winds from the south in next couple days, so we will wait to see what happens. Hopefully some more salmon are around the corner. There have been some whopper kings caught. Fish Hunter

Update July 14

I have not updated because all my trips have been the same. Lake trout fishing continues to be excellent with limit catches on most trips. Today marked a new day with many big kings from my fleet of buddies. I fished a tournament today and took 5th place, with a nice catch of fish. Im not sure if the salmon are here or passing by or the boats just got lucky today. I will have to wait and see, as I will be fishing a lot. Fish Hunter Charters

Still great fishing

Lake trout fishing is still good, last night the 14 we caught were big fish. I did have one king last night, and three this morning along with a nice box of trout. Should really heat up soon with the south wind. Fish Hunter Charters

July 2

Still no salmon around, the water is 41-44 degrees out front. But, the lake trout fishing is fantastic with limit catches. This is very fun fishing with lots of action. Im confident the salmon are very close and with south winds this week we just might get lucky. Fish Hunter Charters

June 28

Fishing continues to stay the same. There are a few salmon around but they are pretty much biting first thing and it's over in 15 minutes. We are still catching our limit of Lake trout with some very nice fish. The wind is out of the north again and I don't see things changing over the next couple days. Fish Hunter Charters

June 26

Fishing remains the same, really good lake trout fishing. There have been a few salmon around so that's a good sign. Looks like some NW wind the next few days and that's not what we really want. Fish Hunter Charters

June 23

Fishing is still up and down. There seems to be zero salmon caught. I heard they got a few today in manistee and it blew from the south today so maybe some are here. Yesterday we caught 20 lake trout and had a great time. Tomorrow looks to be nice and hopefully there are a few salmon around.

Update

The fishing here has really been a roller coaster ride, of ups and downs. The constant east winds have made the lake cold and unsettled. There are fish out there they are just not active. On my last couple trips we averaged 10-12 trout with only a few salmon bites. We did take some nice fish up to 18 lbs. We just need more south wind to get a little current and make the fish bite. I think the fishing will be good this summer, I hear good reports from the southern ports.

Summer is coming!!!

READY!!!!! Boats are ready the fishing is spotty. The only fishing taking place is around the pier heads. Things change daily this time of year, I will be out this weekend searching and hope to report some fish. Spring is holding on and the fish are just scattered. Stay tuned it's going to change.
